The day started with a trip into the town of Longville for the annual 4th of July parade. Many many years ago the parade consisted of the town snow plow and some workers from a local resort. Now the parade has manifested into a legitimate parade, with a senior citizen King and Queen, and a BBQ truck with a pig mascot. Watch out Macy's, Longville, Minnesota knows a thing or two about throwing a parade. Thanksgiving may never be the same...
In case you can't tell, I heart parades and all the awkwardness that comes with them. Norah likes parades as well. She likes them as long as she has a snack or beverage to keep herself busy. When the snack and/or beverage have been consumed, its time to start moving.
This year we decided to skip the fireworks, so in the evening we headed out on the lake for a quick boat ride. Here is Norah's initial reaction to wearing her life jacket and getting on the boat:
Here is her reaction during the boat ride:
In fact she loved the ride so much, that for the rest of the weekend she insisted on spending as much time as possible on the boat. Even if it was tied to the dock.
The next day at the cabin primarily consisted of water and sand and wrestling. For an entire day, we just got to be kids again. I think we even ate hot dogs. It was wonderful.
Before the weekend was over, we were visited by Aunt Jo. Norah really enjoyed spending time with her. Together they rescued dragonflies from the pool, which is about the only time Norah has ever been remotely interested in bugs. Guess she's a pretty cool aunt.
These two...
